My 5th Lap of Swimming Butterfly Ever ...

I established a pretty good relationship with the water through TI freestyle drills. Now I want to try butterfly that I have never tried before. TI drills didn\'t quite do it for me. I was trapped in the up-n-down motion and could not get out. Two days ago I found some butterfly teaching materials posted on YouTube. The emphasis of the drills was different from the other drills that I saw before yet made a lot of sense to me. After watching the clips several times, I did the most basic drills *with new emphasis* in the pool yesterday. Then I thought why not try the whole move that seemed to be so much a natural extension of the drills in the clips. Keeping in mind the overall emphasis I tried. To my great surprise, not only did I finish the complete body/arm move cycle once (my original plan), I swam non-stop to the other end of the pool with arms recovering over the water, breathing and everything :-)! There is much to be improved of course. But I gained so much confidence all thanks to these randomly found clips. Thank to pointers on TI forum, I later came to know that it is not random at all. The clips (no longer on YouTube) are from swimming coach Richard Quick - Championship Winning Swimming - Butterfly DVD. Needless to say that I am definitely going to get a copy. This is my 5th lap swimming butterfly *ever* in my life. butterfly, learn, swimming
