Church Myth-Busting #10: Spiritual Warfare? The \'Anointing\'? - Billiards Videos - Pool Video Clips & Movies

• GREETING/PURPOSE\n-- This series is directed at ministers and teachers, as well as people seeking to challenge their understanding of scripture. We will be dealing with false and/or questionable teachings, beliefs and practices in the Christian church regarding spiritual warfare (namely casting out of devils, soul ties, and the transfering of spirits).\n\n• POPULAR NOTIONS\n-- There exists an unseen world of \"spirits\", where Christians with the proper level of spiritual preparation are able to engage demons and manipulate supernatural powers to reveal threats and subvert demonic curses and \"attacks\" (which come in the form of sickness, disease, financial disarray, negative thoughts and so on).\n-- A Christian opens himself/herself to demonic spiritual attacks and bondage by a) failing to be aware of threats; b) coming into contact with, people, places, things, to which corrupting or demonic influence is supposedly attached; or c) inviting them through personal statements or \"negative confessions\". In the case of soul ties, it is by failing to break previously created sexual unions.\n-- In spiritual warfare the believer supposedly relies upon \"the anointing\" per Isaiah 10:27 (\'And it shall come to pass on that day, that his burden shall be removed from upon your shoulder, and his yoke from upon your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of oil.\') The power of \"the anointing\" is expressed in the following activities: prayer, fasting, pleading the blood, speaking in tongues, calling out spirits, making declarations, commanding \"in the name of Jesus\", using prayer shawls and oils and so on.• DISCUSSION/QUESTIONS\n-- The Bible doesn\'t provide detailed information about the spirit world.\n-- Much of what we recognize about spiritual warfare is shaped by movies (Exorcist), books (This Present Darkness, Left Behind; The Believer\'s Authority by Kenneth Hagin), anecdotes, and what is taught in religious settings.\n-- Realizing the seriousness of this subject, there are still some questions to consider:\n • Why does it take all day to cast a demon out? (why such complexity in approaches)\n • Why is this power not greatly manifested in communities and society? (Katrina)\n-- Not prepared to give direction on this issue; I simply encourage Christians to re-examine what the Bible teaches regarding Identity and Authority.\n-- Ephesians 6 describes spiritual warfare and how to prepare and fight; much of what is widely taught concerning spiritual warfare does not resemble what is spoken of here.\n\n• CONCLUSION/RESOURCES\n-- Ephesians 6:10-18\nhttp://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=eph%206:10-18;&version=50;-- Transferring of Spirits\nhttp://members.aol.com/jesusandsue2/S19-TransferenceOfSpirits.html\n\n-- Demon Possession\nhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonic_possession\n\n-- Basic Introduction to Soul Ties\nhttp://www.greatbiblestudy.com/soulties.php\n\nadditional tags: bishop, pastor, prophet, prophetess, apostle, evangelist, tbn, juanita bynum, thomas weeks, eddie long, creflo dollar, thomas alvin ta body, medina pullings, terry renee hornbuckle, Benny Hinn, T.D.
